Spring 2023

After moving out of our apartment in Truckee in the beginning of May, Shannon, Squiller and I went down to the Eastern Sierra to ski and party the spring away. A record snowpack made access to the high Sierra particularly easy, and coverage was all time awesome. Sadly, it was unseasonably warm and the quality of all this snow left a little to be desired, but fun was had in both the backcountry and the resort nonetheless.

A month of hot spring soaks and evenings in the desert eventually got a little old, so we moseyed back up to Tahoe to prepare for the long push east to see our respective families. I did a few side hustles working event EMS and landscaping for a little extra cash for the summer, and Shannon started a regimented strengthening routine.

Not long after, we went to Shannon’s family reunions in Wisconsin and spent a week at her house before going to Cleveland to spend time with my family, ending with our reunion in Philadelphia. From there, Shannon and I will split so she can go finish the stretch of the PCT she hasn’t done, while I start the NAHR, or the North Appalachian High Route. It’s a route of my own design that will link the 117 4,000 foot peaks of the Northeast in a continuous footpath for the first time. I’m excited to be back in the Appalachians, even though it’s going to be such a burly expedition.

As usual, expect radio silence while I’m hiking and I’ll hopefully be back and done early September!
